It is recommended to spend between 2 and 4 hours enjoying the beach, swimming, and relaxing, depending on whether you plan to surf or have a picnic. If you combine it with nearby attractions, it could extend to half a day.

Aviones Beach owes its name to the 1950s, when private planes landed on the beach for exclusive parties. Located in Loíza, it reflects the municipality’s rich African heritage, the birthplace of Puerto Rican bomba and plena, and its connection to Piñones State Forest.

The best time is during the dry season (December to April) to avoid rain, and early in the morning or at sunset for calmer waters and fewer crowds. Avoid weekends if you are looking for solitude.

The main access is through loose sand, which makes it difficult for standard wheelchairs, but there are nearby wooden walkways in Piñones that help partially. I recommend checking with the Puerto Rico Department of Natural Resources at 787-999-2200 for adapted options.
