La parada despreocupada donde reinan las papas locales, los amores fugaces y el mejor helado de chocolate después de surfear.
Isabela is open 24 hours a day as a tourist destination, with beaches and natural attractions accessible all day. The best way to get there is by car via PR-2 from Aguadilla or San Juan (about 2 hours), or by taxi from Aguadilla Airport. Check the official map at Discover Puerto Rico.
Most beaches such as Jobos and Montones are free and open to the public. Some attractions, such as the Gozalandia waterfalls, charge around $10-15 per person. Check updated prices on the municipal website Isabela PR.
Plan at least a full day to enjoy the beaches and waterfalls, or 2-3 days if you want to explore everything at a relaxed pace. Include time for surfing or walking at Jobos Beach.
Founded in 1811, Isabela is known as 'The City of the Indians' for its Taíno roots and as the birthplace of surfing in Puerto Rico. Its northwestern coast is home to archaeological sites and celebrates traditions such as the Saint Anthony Patron Saint Festival in June.
Winter (December-April) is ideal because of less rain and perfect winds for surfing. Visit the beaches at sunrise or sunset for stunning scenery and fewer crowds.
Beaches such as Jobos have partially accessible paths, but the Gozalandia waterfalls require walks with stairs that are not suitable for wheelchairs. I recommend contacting the municipality at (787) 830-3800 for adapted options.
Nearby you will find the Gozalandia waterfalls (10 min), Crash Boat in Aguadilla (20 min), and the Rio Camuy Cave Park (45 min). Explore more at Western Puerto Rico.
Bring sunscreen, water, and comfortable shoes for walking; respect the surf zones at Jobos. Book accommodation in advance during high season and download local weather apps to avoid storms.
