Melones Beach does not have set opening or closing hours, as it is a public beach. You can access it at any time of day. It is located in Culebra, Puerto Rico, and is generally reached by taxi or golf cart from the ferry. There is no public bus that goes directly there.

Although Melones Beach is mainly known for its natural beauty and snorkeling opportunities, its main importance lies in being a pristine space that allows visitors to connect directly with Culebra’s untouched nature. It is not a site with documented cultural history like a museum, but rather a natural eco-museum.

The best time to visit Culebra, and therefore Melones Beach, is from December to May, when the weather is drier and sunnier. During the day, I recommend going early in the morning to enjoy the peace before more visitors arrive, or later in the afternoon for a spectacular sunset.

Unfortunately, access to Melones Beach can be challenging for people with reduced mobility. The path from the main road to the sand may be uneven, and there are no specific facilities such as ramps or boardwalks. Caution is recommended and, if necessary, assistance.

Culebra is full of gems! Nearby, you can visit the famous Culebrita Island, explore Tamarindo Beach, which is excellent for kayaking, or marvel at the iconic Flamenco Beach, voted one of the best in the world. You can also take a snorkeling excursion to the Luis Peña reef.

Absolutely! I suggest bringing your own snorkeling gear, as the crystal-clear waters are perfect for marine life viewing. Don’t forget biodegradable sunscreen, insect repellent, plenty of water, and good footwear for walking on the sand. Keep in mind that there are no services or food stands directly on the beach, so bring everything you need.
