The Santa Clara Aqueduct is open 24 hours a day all year round, as it is an outdoor monument with free public access. You can easily reach it on foot from the center of Vila do Conde or by car by parking near the Convent of Santa Clara; use GPS coordinates 41.356°N 8.742°W. Visiting the Santa Clara Aqueduct is completely free, with no ticket required. Only enter the convent grounds if they are open (generally from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM), but the aqueduct itself is public.

It is recommended to spend between 30 and 45 minutes walking along the aqueduct, admiring its 999 arches, and reading the information panels. If you combine it with the nearby convent, allow about one hour in total.

Built between 1713 and 1717 by order of the Counts of Figueiró, this aqueduct with 999 arches (4 km long) supplied water to the Convent of Santa Clara and is a Portuguese National Monument, a masterful example of 18th-century hydraulic engineering.

The best time is during summer (June to September) at sunset, when the golden light enhances its arches and the heat is lower. Avoid midday in summer because of the intense sun; in winter, clear mornings are ideal.

Access to the base of the aqueduct is mostly accessible with gentle ramps, but climbing to the higher parts involves uneven stairs and is not recommended for wheelchairs. Contact the City Council at +351 252 248 300 for specific assistance.
