Playa virgen en la Península de Tróia, Portugal, famosa por sus dunas movedizas, aguas cristalinas y formaciones rocosas únicas que evocan el nombre de sus 'picos de calamares'.
As it is a public and unspoiled beach, access is free 24 hours a day, every day of the year. To get there, you usually walk from the main area of Troia or arrive by boat, making it a perfect retreat reached via boardwalks and sand paths from the nearby parking areas of the resort.
Access to the beach is completely free, as it is a public natural area. However, you should keep in mind the ferry costs if you are coming from Setubal, or parking fees in the Troia area if you arrive by car.
To truly enjoy the tranquility and the unique landscape of the sandbars, we recommend setting aside at least half a day, around 3 to 4 hours. It is the ideal place to unwind at a leisurely pace while listening to our stories on IAudioguia.
Although it is a natural wonder valued for its biodiversity in the Sado Estuary, its importance also lies in its proximity to the ancient Roman fish-salting factories of Troia. The beak-like shape of the sand point is vital for protecting the estuary and the habitat of the local dolphins.
The best season is during the summer months, from June to September, for swimming, preferably at low tide when the sand tongues appear. We suggest going early in the morning to find parking easily and enjoy the solitude of the landscape.
Due to its unspoiled nature and the need to walk across sand to reach the point, direct access is not suitable for wheelchairs. However, the main adjacent beaches in Troia do have boardwalks and better accessible infrastructure.
You are in a privileged location very close to the impressive Roman Ruins of Troia. You can also take the opportunity to go dolphin watching in the Sado Estuary or visit the marina.
As this is a more isolated area, there are no beach bars right at the point, so it is essential to bring water and food. Do not forget your sunscreen and check the tide table, as the landscape changes dramatically and is much more spectacular at low tide.
