A transformed industrial monument, bearing witness to the development of Piła and its contributions to cultural heritage.
The Old Gasworks (Stara Gazownia) is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and closed on Mondays. It is located in the center of Piła and is easily accessible by car or bus; use the Google Maps map for precise directions.
Admission is free for visiting the exterior and the basic exhibitions, but some guided activities cost around 10–20 PLN per person. Check updated prices on the city's official website at pila.pl.
It is recommended to allow 1 to 2 hours to explore the complex, including the machine rooms and exhibitions. If you choose a guided tour, it may extend to 2.5 hours.
Built in 1902, it was the first gas plant in the region, a milestone of Prussian industrial engineering that supplied gas to the city until the 1990s. Today it is a cultural monument that preserves Poland’s industrial heritage.
The best time is during summer (June to August) in the mornings, when the weather is ideal for photos and there are fewer tourists. Avoid rainy weekends to fully enjoy the exterior.
Access is partially accessible: there are ramps at the main entrance and elevators in some areas, but certain older rooms have stairs. Contact +48 67 210 26 00 for specific details.
Nearby you will find the Regional Museum of Piła, a 10-minute walk away, and Niosawski Lake, ideal for walks. Also explore Piła Cathedral, just 1 km away.
