A restored 19th-century industrial complex, a witness to Łódź’s textile boom and a vibrant cultural hub today.
The Księży Młyn complex is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. You can get there easily by tram (lines 6, 8, or 15 to the Księży Młyn stop) or by car via Tymienieckiego Street; there is free parking nearby. More details are available on the official museum website.
Entry to the outdoor complex is free, but guided tours or indoor museums cost around 15–20 PLN per person (children free). Buy tickets at the ticket office or online to avoid lines; check updated prices at muzeum.lodz.pl.
It is recommended to allow 1–2 hours to explore the main complex, including the factories and palaces. If you also visit the indoor museums, plan about 3 hours total for a full, unhurried visit.
Księży Młyn is an iconic 19th-century industrial complex, the heart of 'Red Łódź,' symbolizing the city’s textile boom with factories, workers’ palaces, and industrialists’ residences. Today it is an open-air museum that preserves Poland’s industrial heritage and attracts visitors with its striking architecture.
Spring or summer are ideal thanks to the good weather and cultural events; avoid winter because of the cold. Go early in the morning (10 a.m.–12 p.m.) for fewer crowds and better light for photos.
The outdoor complex is mostly accessible, with paved paths and ramps, but some historic buildings have stairs. Contact +48 42 254 32 00 for assistance or adapted visits; wheelchairs are available at the museum.
Just 1 km away is Manufaktura, a shopping and cultural center in former factory buildings. You can also explore Piotrkowska Street (15 minutes on foot) or the Museum of Cinematography nearby.
