A fascinating journey through the history, architecture, and cultural heartbeat of Trujillo Main Square, the heart of the 'City of Eternal Spring'.
The square is a public space open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. However, the historic buildings around it (such as the churches) have specific opening hours. For updated information, visit the municipal website: Trujillo Municipality
No, access to the square is completely free. Some historic buildings nearby (such as the Cathedral Museum) may charge admission. We recommend carrying cash for these cases.
A basic visit takes 30–45 minutes. If you plan to visit surrounding landmarks such as the Cathedral or City Hall, allow at least 2 hours. There is plenty of colonial art to discover!
It is the founding heart of Trujillo (1534) and is home to key monuments such as the Monument to Liberty, considered Peru's first republican monument. The city's independence was proclaimed here in 1820.
From April to November (dry season). In summer (December–March), rain can make walking around more difficult. Early mornings (8am–10am) help you avoid crowds and intense heat.
The square has smooth access, but its center is cobblestoned. The surrounding sidewalks are narrow. Historic buildings have steps, except for Saint Martin Church, which has a side ramp.
Within less than 3 minutes: Urquiaga House, Trujillo Cathedral, Saint Francis Church, and the Museum of Archaeology. Download our free map at iaudioguia.com!
