An impressive Moche ceremonial center that reveals the richness of a pre-Inca civilization through its pyramids and ancient art.
The El Brujo Archaeological Complex is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. It is located in the Chicama Valley (Trujillo, La Libertad) and is reached by road. You can book tours from Trujillo (1h30) or Chiclayo (2h). More info at: Official website

Allow 2 to 3 hours to see everything: the fascinating Cao Museum (home of the Lady of Cao), Huaca Prieta, Huaca El Brujo, and Huaca Cortada. The visit includes walking between structures.
It is one of the most important Moche ceremonial centers (AD 100–800), where the tomb of the Lady of Cao was discovered in 2006, a female ruler with ritual tattoos. The find revealed female power in Moche culture.
From April to November (dry season), when there is little rain. Arrive early (9 am) or after 3 pm to avoid the strong midday sun. The average temperature is 25°C.
The Cao Museum is fully accessible, but the archaeological areas require walking on dirt paths. It is recommended to ask in advance at +51 (044) 778088 for specific needs.
