Discover Paracas National Reserve in Pisco. A unique experience to learn about its history and significance.
Paracas National Reserve is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day. You can get there from Pisco or Ica by taxi, organized tour, or your own vehicle. We recommend going with a tour to make the most of your visit, or driving yourself for more flexibility. For more information, you can check the SERNANP website.
The general admission fee to Paracas National Reserve is S/ 11.00 for Peruvian adults and S/ 10.00 for foreign adults. Children and students have reduced rates. We recommend bringing cash to buy tickets, although some tour operators include this cost in their packages. You can check updated rates on the official page.
For a full visit that includes the Candelabra Route, the rock formations, beaches such as La Mina and El Chaco, and the viewpoints, we recommend setting aside at least half a day, around 4 to 6 hours. If you want to do extra activities such as kayaking or sandboarding, you may need a full day.
Paracas National Reserve is a natural and cultural sanctuary of incalculable value. It protects a unique marine and desert ecosystem, home to sea lions, guano birds, and flamingos. In addition, the ancient Paracas Culture settled here, famous for its textiles and mummies, leaving behind a fascinating archaeological legacy. It is a place where nature and history embrace.
The best time to visit is during the summer months (December to March) if you are looking for sun and warmth, although from April to November the weather is milder and more pleasant. In the mornings, the light is ideal for photos and there are fewer crowds. Afternoons offer spectacular sunsets. Choose according to your weather and photography preferences.
Some areas of the reserve, such as the interpretation center and certain viewpoints, have ramps or adapted paths. However, other areas with uneven terrain or dunes may present difficulties. We recommend contacting local operators or SERNANP in advance to confirm the facilities available for your specific needs.
Absolutely! You should not miss the Ballestas Islands, known as the 'Peruvian Galápagos,' where you can see impressive marine wildlife. You can also visit the Julio C. Tello Site Museum of the Paracas Culture, or head out on a sandboarding tour in the dunes of Ica, just a short distance away.
We recommend bringing sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and plenty of water, as the sun can be intense and the terrain somewhat arid. Wear comfortable clothing and suitable walking shoes. Do not forget your camera and a pair of binoculars for wildlife spotting. And of course, always follow the park rangers' instructions to help preserve this incredible place. Enjoy the magic of Paracas!
