Audio Guide of Ayahuanco Bridge

As it is a public open-air structure, it is open 24 hours a day, although for safety reasons it is recommended to visit only during daylight. Access is mainly from the city of Huanta via an unpaved road; we suggest hiring private 4x4 transport due to the rough terrain.

Access to Ayahuanco Bridge is free, as it is a public route connecting communities. You only need to budget for transportation and food, as there are no ticket booths or official charges on site.

The visit itself, to enjoy the river views and the architecture, takes between 30 and 45 minutes. However, you should keep in mind that it is a full-day excursion because of the travel time required to reach it from Huanta.

This bridge is a key element in connectivity between the highlands and the upper jungle area, historically allowing commercial exchange. It represents the resilience of the region and engineering adapted to the difficult geography of the Andean canyons.

The best season is during the dry season, from May to October, to avoid rains that can make travel on the road more difficult. We recommend going early in the morning to enjoy clear views of the landscape.

Unfortunately, due to the rugged topography and the nature of the rural terrain, the site does not have wheelchair-accessible facilities. Full mobility is required to use the paths and approach the structure safely.

The route offers spectacular landscapes of the Mantaro River valley and the lush vegetation of the cloud-forest fringe. You can complement your trip by exploring the city of Huanta and its viewpoints before heading to the bridge.

Bring plenty of water, snacks, mosquito repellent, and sunscreen, as you will not find shops at the exact bridge location. We advise downloading offline maps or bringing a downloaded audio guide, since the internet signal may be unstable.
