Discover the Monterrey Hot Springs in Huaraz. A unique experience to learn about its history and significance.
The baths are usually open every day from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To get there, you can take a taxi (15 minutes) or the line 1 or E minibuses from downtown Huaraz, which drop you right at the entrance for a very affordable price.
Admission is very affordable, with rates of around 4 to 5 soles for the general pool and approximately 10 soles for the private pools. Advance booking is not usually required; tickets are purchased directly at the ticket office with cash.
We recommend spending about 2 to 3 hours in total. This allows you to enjoy the hot springs without overdoing it (no more than 45 minutes in the water is suggested) and still have time to change and enjoy the surroundings.
The characteristic brown color is due to the high concentration of iron and sulfate. These waters have long been famous for their medicinal properties in relieving rheumatism, stress, and nervous conditions.
The ideal time is very early in the morning (between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m.), when the water has just been refreshed and there are fewer people. The dry season (May to September) offers the best weather in the region.
The complex has ramps and flat paths in the common areas, although direct access to the pools may require assistance. It is advisable to go with someone for greater safety when entering and leaving the water.
You can take a short walk to Monterrey Waterfall, located about 15 minutes from the baths. On your way back to the center, we recommend exploring the Ancash Archaeological Museum to enrich your cultural trip.
Wear dark or old swimwear, as the iron-rich water can permanently stain light-colored garments. Do not forget to bring a towel, soap, and sandals, and if you enjoy cultural tourism, visit IAudioguia.com for your next stops.
