Discover the history, architecture, and panoramic views of the Tobatí Municipal Viewpoint, a key landmark in the heart of Cordillera.
The viewpoint is open 24 hours a day as a municipal public space, but visiting between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. is recommended for greater safety and better views. Access it from downtown Tobatí by heading up the Main Avenue toward the hills; there is clear signage and free parking. For more details, see the Tobatí Municipality page.
Admission is completely free, as it is a municipal viewpoint open to the public. No tickets or reservations are required—just enjoy the panoramic views.
It is recommended to allow between 30 and 60 minutes to go up, enjoy the views, and take photos. If you combine it with a walk around the surrounding area, it could extend to 1.5 hours.
Opened in 2015, the viewpoint offers spectacular views of Tobatí, famous for its ancient tradition of Guaraní ceramics inherited from the Jesuits. It represents an emblematic place to appreciate the natural beauty and artisan heritage of Paraguay’s central region.
Sunset is ideal for magical photos with the sun setting over the hills, while the dry season (May to September) helps you avoid rain. Avoid midday in summer because of the intense heat.
The main access involves a cobblestone path with some stairs, so it is not fully accessible for wheelchairs. People with moderate mobility may reach it with assistance; contact the municipality for alternative options.
Nearby you will find Tobatí’s traditional pottery workshops, San Rafael Archangel Church, and the Ethnographic Museum of Ceramics. Caacupé, with its famous basilica, is a 20-minute drive away; more information is available at SENATUR Tobatí.
Bring comfortable shoes for the climb, water, sunscreen, and a camera; combine your visit with buying ceramics from nearby workshops. Go in a group for safety at sunset and check the weather beforehand.
