Areguá Beach is a public space and, in general, can be visited throughout the day, from morning until dusk. There is no strict closing time, but visiting during daylight hours is recommended so you can fully enjoy the scenery and activities. It is open to everyone.

Good news! Access to Areguá Beach is completely free, as it is a public space. You can enter at no cost. However, keep in mind that any private services or activities offered nearby, such as boat rentals or street vendors, may involve an additional charge.

To fully enjoy Areguá Beach and its surroundings, we recommend setting aside at least 2 to 3 hours. This will give you time to stroll along the shore, enjoy the lake views, perhaps have something at one of the nearby kiosks, and soak up the atmosphere. If you plan to do an additional activity, such as a boat ride, you may want to extend your visit.

Areguá Beach, on the shores of Lake Ypacaraí, has deep cultural and historical significance. Areguá is known as the capital of ceramics and handicrafts, and this beach has historically been a gathering and leisure spot. Lake Ypacaraí is famous for the guarania song ‘Memories of Ypacaraí,’ which gives it incalculable sentimental and cultural value not only for Paraguay, but for all of Latin America.

The best time to visit Areguá Beach is during the dry season, from April to October, when the weather is milder and more pleasant. To avoid crowds, it is best to go early in the morning or late in the afternoon, especially on weekdays. Weekends, particularly in summer, tend to be busier with more people enjoying the area.

Since Areguá Beach is a natural area on the lakeshore, direct access to the sand and water may present challenges for people with reduced mobility. The general facilities are designed for standard movement, so we recommend contacting the Areguá municipality (aregua.gov.py) or the local tourist information center to learn about the specific facilities available at the time of your visit and to plan ahead.

There is plenty to explore! Very close to the beach, you can visit Areguá’s La Estación Cultural Center, which hosts exhibitions and events. The Church of Areguá and its charming colonial streets lined with art galleries and craft shops are also not to be missed. If you are looking for more nature, Koi and Chororí Hill, with its unique rock formations, is an excellent option for a short excursion. Of course! For the best visit, we recommend bringing sun protection such as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen, as well as water to stay hydrated and insect repellent, especially at dusk. If you are interested in handicrafts, bring cash, as many small shops may not accept cards. Also, please dispose of your waste properly to help preserve the beauty of the lake. And do not forget your camera to capture the beautiful sunsets over Lake Ypacaraí!
