A natural paradise on Iguana Island, known for its white sands, crystal-clear waters, and unique marine biodiversity.
Playa El Cirial is reached by boat from Arenal Beach (Pedasí), with frequent departures between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Visiting hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We recommend booking with local guides such as Pedasí Tours to arrange your transfer.
Yes, admission to the Iguana Island Reserve is: $5 for nationals and $10 for foreigners. Children under 12 enter free. More details are available on the official website of Panama’s Ministry of the Environment.
Ideally 3 to 4 hours: enough time to walk the interpretive trail, snorkel on the reef, and enjoy a picnic. Many tours include lunch on the beach before returning.
It is the only place in Panama where you will find the largest coral reef in the Central American Pacific. In addition, from April to October, sea turtles come ashore to nest, and it is a refuge for birds such as the great frigatebird (Fregata minor).
From December to April (dry season): there is less rain, better visibility for snorkeling, and calmer waters. Arrive early (before 10:00 AM) to avoid large groups during peak season.
Access is limited: boats land on soft sand and the trails are natural and unpaved. Not recommended for wheelchairs. If you have reduced mobility, let the tour operator know so they can provide logistical support.
In Pedasí: the historic center, handicrafts at Flags Square, and whale watching (July to October). About 50 minutes away is Venao Beach, with surfing and boutique hotels. More information at Pedasí Tourism.
Get ready like an explorer! Essentials: biodegradable sunscreen, a hat, bottled water (there are no sales in the reserve), water shoes for walking over coral, and cash (cards are not accepted on the island).
