An immersive journey through the lush tropical rainforest of Zapatilla Cays, exploring its biodiversity and ancestral secrets.
Forest Hiking in Zapatilla Cays is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It is recommended to arrive early to make the most of the day. To access it, simply head to the main trail entrance. No advance reservation is required for general admission.
Good news! Entry to Forest Hiking is completely free, making it an excellent option for enjoying nature at no cost. However, if you would like to contribute to trail maintenance, voluntary donation boxes are available.
To fully enjoy Forest Hiking, we recommend setting aside at least 3 to 4 hours. This will allow you to walk the trails at a relaxed pace, stop to observe the flora and fauna, and take photos without rushing.
Forest Hiking is part of a local initiative to preserve the region's biodiversity and promote sustainable ecotourism. Although it does not have a monumental history in itself, its significance lies in its ecological value and the community effort to maintain this green lung for everyone to enjoy.
The best time to visit is during the dry season, from December to April, when the trails are less slippery. As for the time of day, we advise going early in the morning (between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM) to avoid the strongest heat and have a better chance of spotting animals.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the forest terrain and its natural trails, Forest Hiking is not fully accessible for people with reduced mobility or wheelchairs. The paths may be uneven, with roots and changes in elevation. Caution is recommended.
Near Forest Hiking, you can explore the beautiful beaches of Zapatilla Cays to relax after your walk. We also recommend visiting the small local craft market, about a 15-minute drive away, where you will find typical products from the region.
For the best experience, bring comfortable closed-toe shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, and enough water. Do not forget a camera to capture the natural beauty. Follow the signs, do not leave the trails, and remember to take all your trash with you to keep the place spotless. Enjoy your connection with nature!
