The church is open daily during Mass times (generally from 7:00 to 9:00 AM and from 4:00 to 6:00 PM), but you may visit outside these hours if the doors are open. It is a symbol of the Spanish colonial legacy in Nicaragua and a key witness to local history. Its greatest significance is its close connection with Rubén Darío, the world-renowned poet born here in 1867, who was baptized in this church.

The dry season (from December to April) is ideal because of the weather. If you prefer fewer visitors, come in the afternoon on weekdays. During Holy Week there are special celebrations but also larger crowds.

The main entrance has step-free access, but the interior has some uneven areas because it is an old building. There are benches near the altar for resting. It is recommended to call the parish in advance if you need special assistance.
