❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to visit the inside of the Peace Palace, or only the gardens?

Access to the interior is limited because it is a working court. Entry is only possible through guided tours on specific weekends or during weeks without hearings, by booking on its official website. The Visitors Centre, located at the entrance, is open from Tuesday to Sunday and is free to enter.

How much do tickets cost and where can I buy them?

Entry to the Visitors Centre is free. Guided tours of the interior cost approximately €16.50 for adults and must be purchased exclusively online; they often sell out weeks in advance due to high demand.

How much time should I allow for a complete visit?

If you manage to get a ticket for the interior guided tour, it lasts about 50 minutes. For the Visitors Centre and an exterior view of the gardens, we recommend setting aside 30 to 45 minutes to listen to the free audio guide available there.

Why is the Peace Palace so important worldwide?

It is the seat of the UN International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. Built thanks to Andrew Carnegie, it has been a global symbol of international law and the peaceful resolution of conflicts for more than a century.

When is the best time to try to visit the Palace?

Since the interior is an active court, weekends and the judicial recess periods in summer (August) are the best times to find tour availability. We recommend checking the ticket calendar early in the morning.

Is the site accessible for wheelchair users?

The Visitors Centre is fully accessible for wheelchairs. For guided tours inside the Palace, access is possible, but you must notify them in advance when booking so the necessary assistance with the lifts can be arranged.

What other interesting places can I see near the Peace Palace?

The Palace is located in an excellent cultural area. Just a few minutes away you will find the famous miniature park Madurodam and the prestigious Kunstmuseum The Hague. You can also take a direct tram to Scheveningen Beach.

What essential document or requirement should I bring for the visit?

It is mandatory to bring a valid identity document (original passport or national ID card, no copies) to access the guided tours for security reasons. We also recommend arriving 15 minutes early to go through airport-style security screening.
