Audio Guide of Helmond Castle

The castle is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is closed on Mondays (except public holidays). The entrance is at Kasteelplein 1. We recommend checking special opening hours on its official website or by calling +31 492 587 716 before your visit.

General admission: €9. Children (ages 4-17): €6. Children under 4 enter free. Discounts are available for groups of more than 10 people. You can buy tickets in advance on their ticket sales website, where they offer updated prices.

A full visit takes between 1 and 2 hours. It is ideal to combine the castle tour, including the inner courtyard, with the temporary contemporary art exhibitions housed inside as part of Museum Helmond.

It is the only medieval square castle in the Netherlands with a complete moat, dating from the 14th century. It was a strategic noble residence used to control the Aa River. After fires and reconstructions, it now blends military heritage with contemporary art galleries.

Weekday mornings are best to avoid groups, especially on weekends. Spring and autumn offer ideal temperatures to enjoy its historic garden. July and August are peak season, with special events, so arriving early is recommended.

It has an elevator to the main rooms and adapted restrooms, but some areas of the medieval walls and towers have limited access due to narrow staircases. Check the accessible routes in its online accessibility guide.

A 10-minute walk away is Helmond's historic center, with landmark buildings such as Theater 't Speelhuis. If you prefer nature, Warandepark is perfect for a picnic. By car, 20 minutes away, you can visit the Eindhoven Museum and the Van Abbemuseum, internationally known for modern art.
