Set aside between 1 and 1.5 hours. The permanent exhibition includes Mondrian’s birthplace and his artistic development. If you also visit temporary exhibitions, add another 30 minutes.
It is the birthplace of Piet Mondrian (1872–1944), a pioneer of abstract art. Here you discover his realistic beginnings and his transition toward Neoplasticism, the foundation of the De Stijl movement.
Visit on weekday mornings between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Avoid public holidays and Dutch school vacations. July and August are peak season; if you go in summer, arrive at opening time.
Only the ground floor is fully accessible. The upper floors have narrow stairs, as this is a historic 18th-century building. They offer virtual visits for those who cannot go upstairs. Contact them in advance: +31 33 460 0170.
A 5-minute walk away: St. George’s Church, Museum Flehite, and the historic center with its canals. About 10 minutes away: Hof, the square where Amersfoort originated in the 13th century.
