A lush oasis in the heart of the Moroccan desert, famous for its refreshing springs and natural pools.
The oasis is freely accessible 24 hours a day, although visiting during daylight is recommended for greater safety and better views. It is located 5 km from Errachidia (toward Midelt). You can get there by local taxi (30-40 MAD) or by car. Check routes at Morocco Tourism.
No, access to the Blue Oasis of Meski is completely free. You only need to pay if you hire extra services such as a local guide (approx. 50-100 MAD) or use nearby private facilities.
It is recommended to spend 1-2 hours walking through the palm groves, admiring the turquoise-blue spring, and taking photographs. If you include a picnic or a swim in the natural pools, allow half a day.
For centuries it was a crucial supply point for caravans crossing the Sahara. Its permanent spring (22°C all year round) enabled the agricultural development of the region. The nearby kasbahs display traditional Berber architecture.
From March to May and from September to November (average temperatures of 25°C). Avoid July and August because of extreme heat (up to 45°C). The ideal time is at sunrise or 2 hours before sunset for the best photographic light.
The terrain is uneven, with dirt and stone paths, and it is not adapted for wheelchairs. Athletic shoes and a certain level of mobility are needed to explore the area. Only the main spring area has relatively flat access.
20 km away are the Ziz Gorges and Lake Hassan Addakhil. Toward Erfoud (60 km) you can find Sahara fossils. More info: Sahara Guide.
Bring water, a hat, and sunscreen. Wear closed shoes because of the rocky terrain. Respect local agricultural areas. For authentic experiences, hire official guides recognized by the National Tourist Office (tel: +212 5355-60502).
