A cultural space dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich heritage of the Amazigh people in Morocco.
The museum is open from Wednesday to Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed on Tuesdays). It is located on Hassan II Avenue in Chichaoua, a 10-minute walk from the Great Mosque. General admission costs 20 MAD (about €2), with a reduced rate of 10 MAD for students and groups. Children under 12 enter free of charge. It is recommended to bring cash in dirhams, as cards are not accepted.
A full visit takes between 1 and 1.5 hours. The tour includes 6 themed rooms on Amazigh history, traditional crafts, typical clothing, and interactive temporary exhibitions.
It is the only museum dedicated exclusively to preserving the Amazigh (Berber) legacy of the Chichaoua region, with archaeological pieces more than 2,000 years old and testimonies of oral traditions that are at risk of disappearing.
From October to April, when temperatures are milder (20-25°C). The best times are in the morning (9:00-11:00 a.m.) or late afternoon (4:00-5:00 p.m.) to avoid large groups.
Only the ground floor is accessible (70% of the exhibition). The upper floor is accessible only by stairs. There are adapted restrooms and free wheelchair loans with prior reservation by calling 24 hours in advance.
A 15-minute walk away are the Chichaoua Souk (traditional market) and the ruins of the 17th-century Kasbah. For full-day excursions, we recommend the Tamgroute Waterfalls (1 hour by car) - more info here: Chichaoua Tourism.
