Karaula Hill was a strategic military point during the Yugoslav era (1945-1992). It preserves concrete bunkers used for border surveillance. Its name ('Karaula') means 'guard post' in Serbo-Croatian, reflecting its wartime past.

The best time is from May to October. In spring (May-June) you will see flowering fields, while the autumn colors (September-October) are spectacular. The early morning hours offer the clearest views of Lake Plav.
