Un rincón natural en Cozumel que fusiona un faro histórico con playas vírgenes, manglares y senderos para descubrir la biodiversidad de la isla. Ideal para explorar la historia marítima y la ecología caribeña.
The park is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can get there by taxi from downtown Cozumel (about 45 minutes, MXN 500-700 round trip) or by renting a car; it is located on the southern tip of the island at Punta Celarain. More details are available on the official website.
Admission is MXN 450 for adults, MXN 300 for children ages 5-12, and free for children under 5; it includes access to the beaches, lighthouse, and trails. You can buy tickets online to avoid lines at celarainecopark.com.
It is recommended to allow 2 to 3 hours to explore the lighthouse, beaches, trails, and birdwatching areas at a relaxed pace. If you plan to do optional kayaking or snorkeling, allow up to 4 hours.
Built in 1901, the lighthouse guided ships along Cozumel’s southern coast and is now part of an eco park dedicated to the conservation of migratory birds and sea turtles. It represents a key site for the island’s biodiversity.
The best period is from November to April for seeing migratory birds; go early in the morning to avoid the heat or at sunset for spectacular views of the setting sun. Avoid hurricane season from June to November.
The main trails and beach area are wheelchair accessible, but the lighthouse has stairs and some paths are uneven. We recommend contacting the park at +52 987 869 47 00 for specific assistance.
Nearby you will find Colombia Lagoon for crocodile watching, Chankanaab Park with Mayan ruins and an aquarium, and beaches such as Chen Rio. Explore more at cozumel.travel.
Bring insect repellent, sunscreen, water, and comfortable shoes; book in advance during high season. Don’t forget a camera for photos of the lighthouse and birds, and respect conservation rules so as not to disturb wildlife.
