As it is an active fishing port and a public promenade area, access to the site is open 24 hours a day. However, the busiest time is in the morning, when the boats arrive and the fish are unloaded.
Access to the port, the beach, and the promenade around the old fortress is completely free. You may only need cash if you decide to park in monitored areas or buy fresh products directly from the fishermen.
For a cultural visit that includes the port and the fortress ruins, allow between 1 and 2 hours. If you plan to enjoy the beach or eat fresh fish in the area, we recommend setting aside half a day.
Souira Guedima is home to the ruins of the old 'Castelo de Aguz,' a Portuguese fortification from the early 16th century. It served as a strategic trading point on the Atlantic coast before being abandoned, leaving behind a uniquely historic atmosphere.
To avoid strong winds, the summer months are ideal for the beach; if you are looking for photographic and cultural experiences, visit the port at sunrise or sunset. You can check the weather forecast here before you go.
The seafront promenade and the main areas of the port are paved and accessible. However, getting close to the rocky ruin areas or going down to certain parts of the sand may be difficult in a wheelchair.
About 30 km to the north lies the city of Safi, world-famous for its handcrafted pottery and its impressive Sea Castle, a must-see visit to complete the route.
The unmissable experience is to buy fresh fish or seafood directly at the port market and take it to the nearby small local restaurants, where they will grill it for you at a very affordable price.
