¿Sabías que este palacio renacentista fue el refugio de nobles que desafiaron al mismísimo Príncipe-Obispo de Trento?
Palazzo Thun houses Trento City Hall, and public access varies. The historic areas can generally be visited during business hours (8:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.), but we recommend checking the official Trento City Hall website. It is located at Via Belenzani 19, a 5-minute walk from Piazza Duomo.
Admission to the public areas of the palace (main hall, inner courtyard) is free. Payment is only required for special temporary exhibitions. Check the schedule on the city hall cultural portal.
An average visit lasts 30–40 minutes, enough to appreciate its Renaissance architecture, arcaded inner courtyard, and public halls. If you include temporary exhibitions, allow 1 extra hour.
Built in the 16th century for the Thun family, it was an important political center during the Council of Trent. Its Baroque staircase and frescoes symbolize the power of local elites in Renaissance Italy.
Visit early in the morning (before 11:00 a.m.) to avoid school groups. Avoid Mondays, when municipal offices are more active. September and October offer pleasant weather and fewer tourists.
It has a partially adapted elevator, but some historic areas still have original stairs. Contact +39 0461 884111 or [email protected] in advance for specific assistance.
Within 200 meters you will find: Trento Cathedral in Piazza Duomo, the colorful Cazuffi-Rella Houses, and Buonconsiglio Castle (a 15-minute walk away).
1) Keep quiet in administrative halls. 2) Photograph its impressive courtyard (allowed without flash). 3) Combine your visit with nearby Via Belenzani—called 'the drawing room of Trento' for its Renaissance palaces.
