Curlies is usually open every day from 8:30 AM until the early hours of the morning, around 3:00 AM. It is located at the southern end of Anjuna Beach; you can reach it by walking along the beach or going down a rocky path from the main road.
Entry to the restaurant and upper terrace is usually free, paying only for what you consume (approx. 1500-2000 INR for two people). However, during special parties or electronic music events, they may charge a 'cover' or entrance fee at the door.
To enjoy a relaxed meal and watch the sunset, I recommend planning between 2 and 3 hours. If your intention is to enjoy its famous nightlife and trance parties, the visit can extend throughout the night.
It is one of the original beach 'shacks' established in the late 1970s, being a fundamental pillar in the history of the hippie movement and the birth of Psytrance in Goa. It is a cultural icon that represents the free spirit of Goa Tourism.
The ideal time of day is at sunset to enjoy the spectacular views of the Arabian Sea with chill-out music. The best time of year is from November to February, when the weather is cool and the party season is in full swing.
It is important to be cautious, as access is not suitable for wheelchairs due to the uneven, rocky terrain of the entrance path and the beach sand. For people with reduced mobility, it can be quite difficult to reach the main platform.
Right next door is the famous Shiva Valley, known for its Tuesday parties. Additionally, if you visit on a Wednesday, you are very close to the legendary Anjuna Flea Market, ideal for local shopping.
Always carry cash, as the signal for card readers sometimes fails on the beach, and use a flashlight for the way back if you plan to leave at night. I suggest getting a table on the upper floor an hour before sunset to enjoy the best views.
