Discover the majestic history and architecture of the iconic Hungarian Parliament in Budapest, a jewel on the Danube.
The Parliament is usually open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., although plenary sessions may alter these hours. Access is exclusively through the Visitor Centre located on the north side of the building, down the stairs.
Prices vary significantly: EU citizens enjoy a reduced rate (approx. €10-12) compared to non-EU visitors (approx. €25-30). It is vital to buy tickets online in advance on the official ticket site, as they sell out quickly.
The official guided tour lasts approximately 45 minutes, including the initial security checks. It is a very punctual tour, so we recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before your assigned time.
It is the third largest parliament in the world and a Neo-Gothic gem that symbolises national sovereignty. Inside you will marvel at the gilded Grand Staircase and the Dome Hall, where the Holy Crown of Hungary is kept under strict guard.
The first morning slots (around 8:00 or 9:00 a.m.) tend to be the quietest. In addition, regardless of your interior visit, I recommend going at sunset to the opposite bank of the Danube to see it fully illuminated.
Yes, the Parliament is fully accessible for people with reduced mobility, with specific lifts and ramps. If you need special assistance, you can request help from the Visitor Centre staff upon arrival.
Right on the riverbank, just a few metres away, is the moving 'Shoes on the Danube' memorial. You can also walk a few minutes towards the centre to visit the imposing St. Stephen's Basilica.
It is mandatory to bring your original physical ID card or passport (no photocopy) to validate your ticket, especially if you bought a ticket with an EU citizen discount. Also, avoid bringing large luggage, as bulky suitcases are not allowed.
