Named in honor of President Tiburcio Carías Andino, these hot springs have had known medicinal properties since colonial times and were used by the Lenca people to heal ailments. They represent a natural and cultural heritage of Lempira.
The best time is during the dry season (November to April), preferably early in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoy the freshest water. Avoid weekends if you are looking for peace and quiet.
The main access is via dirt paths with some steps, so it is not fully wheelchair accessible. We recommend assistance or visiting only the flatter upper pools.
In Gracias, visit the San Cristóbal Fortress or the colonial Church of Gracias, 10–15 minutes away. You can also explore La Esperanza or Celaque National Park, about an hour away.
Bring a swimsuit, towel, insect repellent, and drinking water; there are no restrooms or showers on site. Wear non-slip shoes because of the rocks, and respect the natural environment by not leaving trash behind.
