Access to the Lonsdale area is usually completely free, as it is an open space for the community. However, we recommend bringing cash (Guyanese dollars) to support small local businesses if you decide to buy drinks or snacks nearby.

To enjoy the scenery and relax without rushing, a visit of 1 to 2 hours is ideal. If you plan to have a picnic or explore the surroundings of the Berbice River at a leisurely pace, you could extend your stay to half a day.

As it is a mostly natural and rural environment, the ground can be uneven and sandy, which makes wheelchair access difficult. It is recommended to go with a companion and check locally on the condition of the paths before heading down to the shoreline itself.

Make the most of your trip by visiting New Amsterdam, one of the region’s most important cities, or exploring other historic sites along the Berbice River. If you are interested in nature, the famous No. 63 Beach is within a reasonable driving distance toward the coast.
