A paradise of white sand and crystal-clear waters on the island of Kos, an idyllic place for relaxation and connection with nature.
As a natural beach, it has no restricted opening hours. You can access it freely at any time. To get there: take local bus Line 5 from Kos Town (30 min) or a taxi (15 min). Bus schedules: ktel-kos.gr.
Yes, access is completely free. You will only pay if you rent umbrellas (€8-10/day) or sun loungers (€5/day). Some beach bars offer complimentary loungers with the purchase of drinks.
We recommend at least half a day. Spending a full day is ideal if you want to enjoy the beach atmosphere, sunbathe, swim in its crystal-clear waters, and try local food in nearby restaurants.
Its name "Tigaki" comes from the ancient Greek "Tigani" (frying pan), referring to its semicircular shape. Historically, it was an area of traditional fishing, and today it stands out for its shallow waters, ideal for families.
High season (July-August) is best for a lively atmosphere. For more peace and quiet: May-June or September. Avoid midday in summer (peak crowds and heat). The sunsets over the Aegean Sea are spectacular.
The beach has fine sand and a gentle entry into the sea, but it does not have special walkways or amphibious wheelchair services. Some establishments may offer occasional assistance. Contact your accommodation in advance.
10 km away is Mastichari (a fishing village with authentic taverns), the Tigaki Salt Pans (a nature reserve with flamingos), and Kos Town (15 km) with the Castle of Neratzia: Castle details.
High-SPF sunscreen (the sun is intense), water shoes in case of small stones in the northern area, and water. Watch out for the Meltemi wind (July-August). Updated information: official Kos website.
