La cala donde los capitanes contrabandistas escondían sueños (y botellas de ouzo vacías).
Vlychos Beach is open to the public all day. To get there, take a water taxi from Hydra port (10 min ride, ~€16 one way). You can also walk along the coast in 40 minutes. More info: Transportation in Hydra
It is completely free as it is a public beach. The only costs are for sunbeds/umbrellas (€8-15 per day in high season) or services at the beach bars.
Ideally half a day: enough time to enjoy a relaxing swim, have lunch at a local taverna, and take a short hike to nearby viewpoints overlooking the Aegean Sea.
Vlychos belongs to Hydra, an island declared a national monument for its naval heritage (19th century) and traditional architecture. The beach was once a resting spot for local sailors. Learn more: History of Hydra
May-June or September-October (20-28°C, fewer tourists). Avoid July-August due to intense heat. Mornings are ideal for peace and natural shade under the nearby olive trees.
Not fully accessible: the beach has a rocky surface and natural steps leading to the sea. The path from Hydra town is steep in places. We recommend a water taxi to avoid difficult trails.
A 15-minute walk away: Profitis Ilias Monastery (panoramic views) and the Kalidonios trail to unspoilt beaches. In Hydra town (3 km): the Historical Naval Museum and 19th-century captains' mansions. Trail map: Hydra Trails
