Discover Lichnos Beach in Parga. A unique experience to learn about its history and significance.
Lichnos Beach is open all day and has no closing time. You can get there by car (there is free parking in the upper area), by taxi from Parga (15 minutes), or through boat excursions departing from Parga Harbor. More transport info: Discover Parga.
Access to the beach is completely free. You only pay if you use additional services such as sun loungers (€8–10 per day) or umbrellas. Some beach bars require a minimum spend to use shaded areas.
Ideally, spend 3 to 5 hours enjoying the swim, food at the beachfront tavernas, and relaxation. If you hike the trails toward Cape Lichnos, add 1 to 2 extra hours.
Although the beach itself has no major historical relevance, it belongs to the Epirus region, which has Venetian heritage. Nearby fortresses such as Parga Castle (2 km away) reflect its strategic past against the Ottomans. More history: History of Parga.
From June to September for good weather (25–32°C). July and August are the busiest months. The best time of day is before 11:00 AM to avoid crowds and enjoy calmer waters.
Accessibility is limited. The pebbled beach and the slope from the parking area can be challenging. There is a steep 150-meter path down to the shore. The nearby Valtos Beach in Parga offers better accessibility.
We recommend: Parga Castle (panoramic views), Panagia Island (by boat), Lichnos Cave, and the neighboring Valtos Beach. Excursions: Water Taxi Parga.
1) Bring water shoes for the pebbles 2) Sun protection is essential (there is little natural shade) 3) Bring water and cash 4) If you go by boat, leave early to avoid rougher waves 5) Try the smoked tuna in the local tavernas.
