Donde la arena rosa guarda secretos piratas y aviones nazis hundidos
The beach is open 24 hours all year round, but visiting during daylight is recommended for safety. You can get there by car (parking available) or by bus from Kissamos (1h 15min). Check bus schedules at Crete Tourism.
Yes, access is completely free. You'll only pay if you use additional services such as sunbeds (€8-12/day) or parking (€3-5/day). More info at Cretan Beaches.
We recommend a minimum of 3-4 hours to enjoy the main beach and explore the pink lagoon and dunes. Bring water shoes if you plan to walk to the islet!
Its pink sand (caused by microorganisms) and turquoise waters are its signature. It is also a Natura 2000 Protected Area thanks to its biodiversity. Historically, a ship carrying hundreds of women and children was wrecked here in 1824 (cultural info).
The shoulder season (May-June or September-October) offers good weather without the crowds. If you go in July-August, arrive before 9:30am to find parking and enjoy it in peace.
The parking is nearby but the soft sand makes wheelchair access difficult. There are accessible toilets and some local companies rent amphibious chairs. Contact in advance: Accessibility Guide.
Don't miss the Chrysoskalitissa Monastery (15min by car with sea views) and the wild Kedrodasos Beach (30min walk). More info at Chrysoskalitissa Monastery.
Bring water, maximum sun protection and footwear for rocks. There are no ATMs: bring cash. If you're traveling with children, the left side of the beach has weaker currents. More tips at Travel Guide.
