Donde la Navidad es eterna y los árboles brillan más que el sol bávaro
The museum is open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (extended until 7:00 PM in peak season). It is located at Herrngasse 1, Rothenburg ob der Tauber. We recommend checking holiday hours on its website: www.wohlfahrt.com/es/.
General admission costs €8 (€4 for children aged 6–11). Tickets are available at the box office or online. Groups of 10 or more receive a discount.
The average visit lasts 45–60 minutes. It includes a permanent exhibition of historic Christmas ornaments and an interactive area. Be sure to allow extra time for its famous decoration shop!
Käthe Wohlfahrt is the world’s leading brand for traditional German Christmas decorations. The museum showcases more than 500 years of history with unique pieces such as Victorian trees and extremely rare Christmas pyramids.
It is magical all year round, but November and December are especially special with Rothenburg’s Christmas market. To avoid crowds, come on a weekday morning.
The museum has wheelchair access on the ground floor, but the main exhibition is on the first floor with no elevator (there are spiral stairs). They offer an alternative virtual visit on the ground floor. Contact +49 9861 4090 for more details.
Less than 5 minutes away on foot: the medieval town wall, Market Square, and the famous Criminal Museum. Don’t miss a walk through Plönlein, the most photographed corner of Rothenburg!
1) Use the free audio guide in 14 languages 2) Visit the museum first (it opens later than the shops) 3) Try the typical local sweet called Schneeball at nearby cafés. More practical tips are available at the tourist office.
