Donde ángeles arquitectos jugaron al Tetris con estilos y marineros escondieron huesos de ballena
The cathedral is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00, and on Sundays for Mass. You can easily reach it on foot from the Old Port (15 min) or by using the 'Place Puget' public transport stop. Check for schedule changes on the official website.
Admission is completely free. If you would like to support its upkeep, there are boxes for voluntary donations inside the church. Specialized guided tours may have an additional cost.
Between 45 minutes and 1 hour is recommended to fully appreciate the interior, although if you want to enjoy its side chapels or the choir, you could extend your visit to up to 1 hour and a half.
Built between the 11th and 18th centuries, it combines Baroque and Romanesque styles. It was an episcopal seat and survived bombings during the Second World War. Its 19th-century organ is listed as a French Historic Monument.
Visit in spring or autumn to avoid crowds. The early morning hours (before 11:00) are quieter. Avoid Sunday mornings during Mass if you are looking for absolute silence.
There is ramp access at the main entrance, but some side chapels have steps. A wheelchair is available on request (contact +33 4 94 92 28 91). Accessible restrooms are in adjoining buildings.
Within a 5-minute walk you will find: the Provence Market (local products), the Naval Museum (maritime history), and the Old Port with its historic boats. Place de la Liberté is a 10-minute walk away.
Dress respectfully (shoulders covered) and keep quiet during religious services. Photography without flash is allowed except in marked areas. Take advantage of the natural light between 14:00 and 16:00 to better appreciate its stained glass windows.
