El Puy de Pariou is open year-round, 24 hours a day, as it is a natural outdoor site with no restricted opening hours. To get there, you can drive to the parking area at the base near Super-Besse and then take a hike of about 1 hour along a well-marked trail. It is recommended to allow between 2 and 3 hours for the full visit, including the climb to the crater (about 45–60 minutes) and time to enjoy the panoramic views. If you are an experienced hiker, you may shorten it to 1.5 hours, but take breaks to appreciate the volcanic landscape.

El Puy de Pariou is an extinct volcano formed about 8,000 years ago, part of the Chaîne des Puys in Auvergne, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018 for its unique geological value illustrating volcanic formation. Unfortunately, the main access to the crater requires a steep hike along uneven trails, so it is not accessible for wheelchairs or people with reduced mobility.
