Kummakivi literally means 'strange rock' in Finnish, and it is famous for its astonishing balance. It is a gigantic boulder resting on a much smaller base, a feat of natural balance that has intrigued people for centuries. Its story is geological, the result of the Ice Age, when ice placed it in this seemingly impossible position, where it has remained in defiance of time.

Unfortunately, the path to Kummakivi Weird Rock is not suitable for people with reduced mobility or wheelchairs. The trail is a natural forest path, uneven and full of roots and stones, which makes it inaccessible. Walking over somewhat rough terrain is required to reach the rock.
