Discover Törnävä Park in Seinäjoki. A unique experience to learn about its history and significance.
The park itself is a public space open 24 hours a day, although the South Ostrobothnia Museum located there is usually open from Tuesday to Sunday (10:00-18:00 in summer). It is about 4 km from the center of Seinäjoki, and you can easily get there by local bus or by taking a pleasant walk along the river.
Access to the green areas, paths, and gardens is completely free and perfect for a stroll. However, there is an admission fee to enter the museum's historic buildings (approx. €6-8); you can check updated prices on the official website.
To enjoy a relaxed walk through the natural surroundings, one hour will be enough. If you plan to visit the museum and the buildings of the old ironworks to immerse yourself in the history, we recommend allowing between 2 and 3 hours.
It is the historic heart of Seinäjoki, a former ironworks and 19th-century manor area that shows how both the elite and the working class lived. Today it houses the provincial museum, preserving original buildings that tell the story of the evolution of South Ostrobothnia.
Summer is ideal thanks to its blooming gardens and mild weather, although in late June the park is transformed by the massive Provinssi rock festival. If you are looking for peace and fairy-tale Nordic scenery, snowy winter offers an unforgettable setting.
The park's main paths are wide and flat, allowing good wheelchair access outdoors. However, please note that some older historic buildings have stairs and thresholds that are not adapted.
Right next to it you will find the beautiful Törnävä Church and a very popular summer theater. In addition, you are just a short trip from the famous Aalto Centre, a must-visit for architecture lovers.
Wear comfortable shoes, as you will want to explore the riverside paths, and bring a picnic if the day is sunny. To truly understand the context of what you are seeing, we strongly suggest using an audio guide or reading about the manor's history before you go.
