Un vasto archipiélago finlandés con más de 1.200 islas, rodeado de bosques caducifolios y aguas del Golfo de Finlandia, que invita a descubrir la armonía entre mar y tierra.
The park is open year-round, 24 hours a day, as it is a protected natural area. You can reach it by ferry from the harbor in Ekenäs, by kayak, or on foot via trails on nearby islands; check ferry schedules at www.nationalparks.fi/ekenasarchipelago.
Entry to the park is completely free, as in most national parks in Finland. You will only pay for transportation, such as ferries or kayak rentals, which vary by operator.
A typical visit lasts 4 to 6 hours for a ferry trip and light hiking, but you can extend it to a full day if you go kayaking or camping. Plan according to your itinerary so you do not feel rushed.
Protected since 1981, the park stands out for its unique marine biodiversity in the Gulf of Finland, with a history of traditional fishing and habitats for birds and seals. It represents Finland’s coastal natural heritage and is ideal for understanding the ecology of the Baltic archipelago.
Summer, from June to August, is ideal because of the good weather, long days, and opportunities for swimming and hiking. Go early in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoy the soft light; avoid winter because of the extreme cold.
Accessibility is limited due to the rocky terrain and uneven trails; it is not suitable for wheelchairs on most islands. Some coastal areas are easier, but check with the official website for adapted routes or accessible ferry options.
Nearby is the charming old town of Porvoo, with its wooden architecture and cafés, about 30 to 40 minutes away by car. Also visit Ekenäs for its historic harbor and the City Museum; combining both makes for a perfect day.
Bring mosquito repellent, water, food, and waterproof clothing, as the weather changes quickly; book ferries in advance during high season. Follow Leave No Trace principles and download the offline map from www.nationalparks.fi/ekenasarchipelago for easier navigation.
