Donde las casas de campo guardan crimenes pasionales, fetiches paganos y el postre más escandaloso del Báltico
The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday: from May to September, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and from October to April, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (closed on Mondays). It is easy to reach by bus from central Tallinn on routes 21A or 34A to the Rocca al Mare stop, about 20–30 minutes away; check the official website for updated schedules at evamuseum.ee.
Admission costs €18 for adults, €10 for students and seniors, €9 for children aged 6–16, and is free for children under 6; there are family discounts and cheaper online tickets available. Buy your tickets at evamuseum.ee/tickets to avoid queues.
It is recommended to allow at least 3–4 hours to explore the paths and buildings at a relaxed pace, although you could easily spend a full day if you include demonstrations. If you are visiting with children or in a group, plan extra time for interactive activities.
Founded in 1957, this open-air museum preserves more than 70 traditional Estonian buildings from the 18th to 20th centuries, showcasing Estonia’s rural and cultural life. It reflects the country’s regional diversity and is essential for understanding its folk heritage.
Summer (June to August) is ideal thanks to the good weather, festivals, and long days, preferably in the morning to avoid crowds. Spring and autumn have fewer visitors and beautiful colors, but avoid winter if you do not enjoy cold temperatures.
It is partially accessible, with paved paths in the main areas, ramps, and free wheelchair loans at the entrance; however, some rural paths are uneven. Contact +372 656 1212 or check details at evamuseum.ee/accessibility to prepare your visit.
Just a few minutes away are the Rocca al Mare shopping center and Rocca al Mare Park for a picnic; head back to Tallinn to visit Kadriorg Palace (15 minutes by bus) or the Old Town (20–30 minutes). You can also combine it with a tour of the nearby Baltic coast.
Wear comfortable shoes for the museum’s 53 hectares of grounds, use the museum app or map so you do not get lost, and join demonstrations of traditional crafts. Eat at the Peeter I restaurant or bring a picnic, and download audio guides at evamuseum.ee to enrich the experience.
