❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How do schedules and access to the dive sites work?

Dive boats usually depart early, around 8:00 am, and return at about 4:00 pm. Access is exclusively by boats operated by certified centers on the Safaga coast, although some resorts have reefs accessible from shore.

What is the approximate price of the dives?

The sea is free, but the logistics are not. A day of diving (2 boat dives with lunch) costs around €50 - €70, depending on the rented equipment. It is an investment in unforgettable memories, far more worthwhile than any souvenir.

How much time do I need to enjoy the experience?

Set aside at least one full day (7 to 8 hours) for a standard boat trip. If you want to explore iconic sites such as Panorama Reef in depth, we recommend a 3 to 5 day diving package.

What makes diving in Safaga so historically special?

In addition to its biodiversity, Safaga is home to the tragic and famous wreck of the Salem Express, which sank in 1991. It is a dive site with a unique emotional and historical weight in the Red Sea.

What is the best time of year to dive here?

Although diving is possible year-round, from September to November you will find the best combination: warm water and less wind. Avoid August if you do not tolerate extreme heat well out of the water.

Is diving in Safaga accessible for people with reduced mobility?

Yes, the Red Sea is a pioneer in adaptive diving, and several operators in Safaga are equipped for it. However, it is vital to contact the diving center in advance to make sure the specific boat has the necessary facilities.

What other attractions can I visit nearby after diving?

You are very close to Soma Bay if you are looking for luxury, or you can take the opportunity to visit the city of Hurghada to the north. It is also an ideal starting point for day trips to the temples of Luxor.

What key advice would you give me to make the most of the visit?

Do not forget your certification card and dive logbook to access the best sites. Also, while you relax on the surface, you can listen to stories about the place with IAudioguia on your phone.
