It is a symbol of the Coptic community in Ismailia, built in 1903 during the development of the city alongside the Suez Canal. It houses relics linked to St. Mark, the evangelizer of Egypt according to Coptic tradition. More details are available from the Ministry of Antiquities.
From November to March, when temperatures are milder (18-25°C / 64-77°F). Sunrise and sunset provide spectacular light on the stained glass. Avoid the middle of the day in summer, when temperatures can exceed 40°C / 104°F.
