Donte los minaretes vigilan el mar Rojo y las palmeras guardan secretos de pescadores convertidos en millonarios
The mosque is open to non-Muslim visitors from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day, except during prayer times (approximately 30 minutes each time). Friday mornings are reserved for congregational prayer. We recommend checking its official website for updates: El Mina Mosque or calling +20 65 344 1234.
Admission is free, but voluntary donations are accepted for the upkeep of the site. These contributions can be made in the designated donation boxes within the complex.
It is recommended to allow between 45 minutes and 1 hour to appreciate the architecture, decorative details, and spiritual atmosphere. This includes time to explore the main courtyard and the ablution area.
It is the largest mosque in the city (with capacity for 3,000 worshippers) and a symbol of local religious life. Its design combines Ottoman and Mamluk elements, highlighted by its imposing 40-meter minaret and main dome.
The early morning hours (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM) are ideal: there are fewer visitors, the light highlights the architectural details, and you avoid the intense midday heat.
The main courtyard and ground floor are accessible via ramps, but access to the minaret and some upper areas involves stairs. Basic wheelchairs are available for loan upon prior request.
Within a 10-minute walk you will find: Hurghada Marina (restaurants and boats), Saint Shenouda Coptic Cathedral, and the Old Market (Dahar). More area information: Egypt Tourism Office.
Modest dress is required (shoulders/elbows and knees covered; women must wear a headscarf). Shoes must be removed before entering the main prayer area. Avoid prayer times for sightseeing visits.
