A fascinating natural park in Egypt, home to one of the world's rarest and most spectacular alabaster caves.
The park is open every day during daylight hours (generally from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm). It is located 90 km from Beni Suef and is best reached by private vehicle or taxi. For exact routes, see Egypt Travel.
Access is generally free, but some private tours may include guide or transport fees. We recommend checking with your local tour operator or asking at the Beni Suef tourist office.
It is recommended to allow 2 to 4 hours to visit the main caves (such as the famous Crystal Cave) and hike along the better-marked trails. Include extra time if you plan to do detailed photography.
It is famous for its calcite formations unique in Africa, especially the Crystal Cave, discovered by chance in 1992. According to studies in the Journal of Nature, these structures formed 65 million years ago when a meteorite struck the area.
From October to April, when temperatures are milder (20–30°C). Avoid the summer months (June–August) because of extreme heat. The early morning hours are ideal for avoiding crowds.
The terrain is uneven with rocky paths, and the main cave has natural steps. It is not suitable for wheelchairs. Contact the Beni Suef Tourism Authority (+20 82 232 0965) for specific accessibility options.
