Most visitors spend between 1 and 2 hours exploring the gardens, main chapels, and historic areas. If you plan to attend religious services or take a meditative walk, allow half a day.
Founded in the 19th century, it is one of the main centers of Coptic spirituality in the Red Sea region. It stands out for its Byzantine icons and as a pilgrimage site during religious festivals such as Saint Anthony the Abbot's feast day in January.
From October to April, when temperatures are milder (20-25°C). Avoid July and August because of extreme heat. Mornings are ideal to avoid crowds and enjoy the spiritual peace.
Access can be challenging due to uneven ground and ancient steps. There are partially accessible areas such as the main courtyard and the lower church. Contact the monastery directly for specific needs.
In Ain Sokhna, Zafarana Beach stands out (tourist information), as well as the Talasseh thermal complex. About 1 hour and 30 minutes away are the Pyramids of Giza and the National Museum of Alexandria.
Bring water, comfortable shoes for walking on stone, and modest clothing (men: long trousers; women: covered shoulders). If you visit in summer, a hat and sunscreen are essential. On Wednesdays there is a special evening choir.
