Golden Beach is a public beach, so you can visit it every day of the week, 24 hours a day. To fully enjoy Golden Beach, it is recommended to spend at least 3 to 4 hours. This will allow you to sunbathe, take a swim in the sea, and have lunch at one of its restaurants facing the Atlantic. If you plan to go snorkeling or simply relax all afternoon, you can easily stay up to 6 hours.

Golden Beach is famous for its long and distinctive concrete waterfront promenade, the Seafront Walk, which became an iconic symbol of Puerto Plata. This promenade was built to protect the city from strong waves and today it is the most important social gathering place. It is the ideal spot to observe local life, watch the sunset, and enjoy the Caribbean breeze.

The best time of day is in the afternoon, from 3:00 PM onward, to witness one of the most spectacular sunsets on the north coast. As for the time of year, the season from May to November offers more pleasant temperatures, although it is the rainy season. The months from December to April are the driest and sunniest, but also the busiest.

Yes, Golden Beach is very accessible thanks to its wide and flat concrete promenade, which is ideal for wheelchairs and strollers. However, direct access to the sand can be challenging, as there are no special walkways that avoid the sand. Most of the promenade's restaurants and bars have good accessibility adaptations.

From Golden Beach, you can walk to the Watchtower Lighthouse, a historic fort with panoramic views. The historic center of Puerto Plata is also very close, where you can visit Doña María Promenade, the Cathedral, and the Amber Museum. The Puerto Plata Cable Car is another must-see attraction located just a few minutes away by taxi.

I recommend bringing cash, as many stalls and taxis do not accept cards. Use sunscreen and bring water, as the sun can be intense. It is very common for vendors to approach you; if you are not interested, a simple polite 'no, thank you' is enough. Finally, do not miss trying the fresh fruit and fried fish at the local stands.
