A medieval fortress rising majestically, a silent witness to the defense and history of Omiš.
The fortress is open from May to September from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and from October to April from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed on Mondays. It is easily reached by car via the D102 road from Novi Vinodolski (10 km away), or by local bus; free parking is available near the entrance. For more details, see the official local tourism website.
Admission costs €5 for adults, €3 for children and students, and is free for children under 7. Groups and families receive 20% discounts; tickets can be purchased at the box office or online. Pair it with an IAudioguia audio guide for just €2 extra for an enriched experience.
A full visit takes between 1 and 2 hours, including climbing the walls and exploring the interior rooms. If you use an audio guide, allow about 1.5 hours to enjoy it without rushing. It is ideal for a relaxed morning or afternoon.
Built in the 15th century by the Frankopan family, it served as a defense against Ottoman and Venetian invasions, highlighting its role in the history of the Kvarner region. Today it is a Croatian cultural symbol with panoramic sea views. Learn more details with the interactive IAudioguia audio guide.
The best time is from June to September thanks to the good weather and cultural events; avoid July and August because of the crowds. Go early in the morning (9–11 AM) for less heat and better photos in the golden light.
The main access has steep stairs, so it is not fully accessible for wheelchairs, but there is a partial alternative path with handrails. Contact +385 51 921 044 for special assistance. Adapted guided visits are recommended.
Nearby you will find Novi Vinodolski Beach (10 minutes by car), the Monastery of Saint Francis, and the Seafront Promenade. Also explore Ledenice Park, 5 km away, for a full day out. Use the Croatia Tourism website for routes.
Bring comfortable shoes, water, and sunscreen, as there are many outdoor stairs. Download the IAudioguia audio guide on your phone for exclusive offline stories. Visit in a small group for great photos from the towers.
