Discover Zlatni Rat Beach on Brač. A unique experience to learn about its history and significance.
Zlatni Rat is a public beach with free 24-hour access all year round. However, services such as sunbed rental (€10-15/day) and bars generally operate from 8:00 to 20:00 in high season. We recommend checking updated info at visitbrac.com.
Access to the beach is completely free. You will only pay if you use additional services: sunbeds (from €10), umbrellas (€5) or water sports. Public showers are paid (€2) during high season (June-September).
Ideally set aside a full half day. Many visitors spend 4-6 hours enjoying swimming, water sports (such as paddle surfing for €15/hour) and walking along the emblematic cape that changes shape with the currents.
Zlatni Rat is unique worldwide for its 634m triangular shape that changes direction with the tides and currents. The name means "Golden Horn" because of its color and shape. It has been a Protected Geological Monument since 1967. More details at bol.hr.
June and September are ideal. In high season (July-August), go before 9:00 or after 17:00. Tuesdays tend to be less crowded. Avoid cruise ship days: check schedules at Port of Bol.
There are access ramps to the start of the cape and wooden walkways (500m) with rest areas. However, the last stretch to the tip is made of smooth stones that are difficult for wheelchairs. Special sunbeds available with prior reservation (+385 21 635 638).
15 minutes on foot: the historic center of Bol with the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (18th century). A must is the climb to Vidova Gora (778m) for spectacular views. We also recommend the Wine Museum in Škrip (muzej-vina-brac.hr), 20km away.
1) Arrive before 9:00 to park for free in the blue zone (after that €3/h). 2) Water shoes: the stones are slippery. 3) There is only 1 restaurant on the cape ("Ribarska Kućica"): better to bring water and snacks. Watch out for flags: a red zone indicates dangerous currents.
