The Fortress of Crepsa invites you on a journey through time, an ancient stronghold that whispers stories of emperors, battles, and an island of unchanging charm.
Opening hours vary by season. From April to October it is usually open from 10:00 to 18:00, but we recommend confirming before your visit by contacting the Cres Tourist Office at +385 (0)51 571 535 or checking their website tzg-cres.hr.
Access to the exterior of the fortress is generally free. If there are temporary exhibitions inside, an admission fee may be required (between 10 and 20 HRK). Check with the Cres Museum for updated details.
A full visit takes approximately 1 hour. It includes walking along the panoramic walls, towers, and interior exhibitions. Don’t forget to allow extra time for photos from the viewpoints!
Built by the Venetians in the 16th century as a defense against the Ottomans, it is a symbol of medieval military architecture in the Adriatic. It preserves original walls 2 meters thick and offers unique views of Cres.
Spring (May-June) and autumn (September) offer ideal temperatures and fewer tourists. In summer, visit early in the morning to avoid intense heat and crowds.
As a medieval fortification with uneven stairs and cobbled ground, it is not fully accessible. There are partial views from the base, but full access requires comfortable mobility.
In Cres you can visit: the historic old town (5 min away), Lubenice Beach (15 km), and Lake Vrana (nature reserve). We also recommend the clock tower and the medieval harbor.
1) Wear non-slip footwear for the stone steps 2) Bring water and sun protection (there is little shade) 3) Use the audio guide at iaudioguia.com to discover secret stories as you explore.
